New GAF Hickory Roof in Vernon NJ

This project involved a complete roof replacement at a residential property in Vernon, NJ, executed with a strong emphasis on durability, weather protection, and workmanship. The process began with the full removal of all existing roofing materials down to the plywood decking. Once exposed, the entire deck was carefully inspected for signs of rot, delamination, or moisture damage. Any compromised plywood sections were removed and replaced to restore the structural integrity of the roof system and provide a solid, secure substrate for the new materials.

To enhance protection against water intrusion—especially critical in a climate prone to ice dams—we installed two full courses of self-adhering ice and water shield along the eaves and vulnerable areas. The remaining deck was then covered with GAF Deck-Armor synthetic underlayment, which offers superior tear resistance, breathability, and slip resistance compared to traditional felt. The roofing system was completed with 48 squares of GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in Hickory, installed according to manufacturer specifications to ensure optimal wind resistance and long-term performance. Final steps included meticulous flashing checks, detail work, and a comprehensive cleanup of the property.
